modular

Modular has been described as ‘electronic goosebump music’. Part of the new breed of laptop musicians, they are more concerned with making music with soul than trying to sound clever. V and Daniela’s vocals are the human connection to the haunting electronic melodies and electro beats. Often delicate, sometimes in your face, but always with heart: this is electronic music for real people.

Modular was formed in 2000 when London-based programmers Ian Duncan and Simon Price joined forces. Determined to take new music technology and warp it in unexpected ways, they stumbled upon a unique shimmering sound. Modular refers as much to the group’s loose collaborative method, as to vintage ‘modular’ analog synthesisers. The group’s contributors share song ideas and vocal recordings via the internet, piecing the elements together in the studio.
